Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is special to me as all Wilco albums are because they were one of the musical groups that basically soundtracked my childhood. If I think back to running around the house as a kid I can hear “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” or “Jesus Etc.” spinning on the record player and my dad getting upset that it kept skipping as we ran and pounded on the floor. Wondering what the cover of the album was and growing up and learning about Marina City and how iconic it is, and when you see it you immediately think Chicago! It makes me think about that city where my entire family is from and is comforting in that way.

This album also happens to be released a month before I was born and my parents claim that the name of the band factored into them choosing my name (Will) although I’m not sure I believe them. I do like to think that they are telling the truth though because I think it is an interesting story. I have been told so many stories about me as a baby and I have heard that this album was played a lot in the house so when I listen to the songs on it there is a weird nostalgic effect it has on me from very early on in my life. It brings back emotions I don’t remember from when I was a baby.
