The Way We Move

Langhorne Slim (2012)

$39.99

This album is important to me in the same way that “I and Love and You” by the Avett Brothers is. It came out the same year we went down to Austin for Old Settlers Music Festival. The Avett Brothers weren’t able to be there but the other big reason we went down was to see Langhorne Slim and a few others. I want to say that this was my first time seeing live music and we got to hear him sing songs from this album like “Bad Luck” and “The Way We Move.” These were household songs for us at the time so it was awesome to see them live although I don’t think I was able to fully appreciate it because I was so young but I did understand that it was an awesome experience. Hearing this album reminds me of how hot it was, buying frozen bandanas to cool off, and getting a shirt from the festival that was way to big. I think I just outgrew it.

“Song for Sid” was written about his Grandpa and it always reminded me of mine. Even before he passed away, when I listened to this song I would think of him. Now, since he has passed it means even more to me because it still reminds me of him and how amazing he was. It makes me appreciative of the time I got to spend with him when we would visit Michigan during Christmas. We would play dominoes and he was always cracking jokes and telling stories more times than I think he realized he was.
