This is an album that I was raised on but it still tracks my life to this day. I don’t think there has been a point in my life that I can remember where songs from this album wasn’t playing at some point or another. When I was a little kid my parents started to love The Avett Brothers and my love for them followed. This is another album that brings back memories of roadtrips, driving to school, and family. The song “I and Love and You” is very important to me because its one that I used to love to play on guitar and I never considered the lyrics. Having grown the lyrics hit me a lot harder but because its so nostalgic to me it creates another layer of importance for me.
In the song he says:
“Load the car and write the noteGrab your bag and grab your coatTell the ones that need to knowWe are headed north”
These lyrics hold a special meaning to me now because we are originally from Kansas but in high school my parents decided to move to Michigan and so we also decided to load the car and head north. This song makes me think of family and how thankful I am for them.
