Desperado was a studio album released in 1973. The soft and familiar songs of this album like “Tequila Sunrise” or “Desperado” remind me of the time I spent growing up in Kansas, and like most other albums on this site it reminds me of running around the house and hearing this in the background. When I look back I can hear this playing inside the house from the backyard. “Tequila Sunrise” immediately makes me think of the sunrises on the great plains of Kansas. I know that is not what the song is about but as a kid the lyrics meant something to me entirely different than they do now, and that is how I like to remember them.

The lyrics didn’t mean so much to me back then, it was all about what the song sounded like and The Eagles definitely have their very own sound, and thats what makes the memories flood back in. My dad has always been a music fanatic and loved having good speakers to listen to vinyl on. There were a few songs by The Eagles that always took me to another dimension when I listened to them that loud. Those songs were “Hotel California”, “Pretty Maids All in a Row”, and “Desperado.” Something about that song is ethereal and I loved those moments that I got to hear it like that.
