This album didn’t make its way into my life until a little bit later but in the first few years of high school I remember beginning to listen to it. During this time we had a 1983 diesel Mercedes that we called “Veggie” and that had never really ran when I was little. My dad tried to convert it to run off of vegetable oil (hence the name) which did not end up as successful as we had all hoped, because how cool would it be to gas up behind a burger joint using their waste oil? Anyways, the old car didn’t have bluetooth or anything, only a CD player, so we always had a bag of CDs in the car and this album was one of them. When I look back this album reminds me of the time spent heading to school in the morning. Probably because this was the most played album in that car, or at least it felt like it.

It makes me think about getting into the car in the Michigan winters and being absolutely freezing right up until we had to get out and get into school because diesel heaters take forever to get going. Shivering in the back seat listening to “One Wing,” which is still one of my favorites to this day. There was a lot of time spent in that car listening to this record and a lot of time spent with my Dad and Brother so listening to it now is a nice reminder of those days.
