This was Wilco’s first ever record and was released in 1995, 7 years before I was born. Never the less this album had songs that were some of the first pieces of music I ever heard. In 2002, at this point in my parents lives they were obsessed with Wilco and were always playing them, or so my Dad tells me. While I was warm and huddled up in my Mom’s belly I was listening to songs like “Passenger Side,” and “Too Far Apart.”
In 2004, two years after I was born my brother was born and the first music I heard also became some of the first music he heard. On road trips we would listen to this album in our car seats. Of course not by choice, this music was forced on us, but I don’t think we would have wanted to change it if we had been given the choice. Driving to Michigan to visit Grandma and Grandpas, sitting in the back with my new brother, this album will always hold a special place in my heart because although I cant remember listening to it, when I listen to it now I can picture those moments and that is a special thing.
