The Beatles (1969)

Yellow Submarine is iconic. Everyone know exactly what it is within seconds of seeing the cover. But it wasn’t just the album that makes this so famous. It was made into toys, games, books, posters, and most importantly a movie. To be honest I never really liked the album or “The Yellow Submarine” as much as I do all of the other works that the Beatles made. But that doesn’t mean that the music and the album art don’t hold a significant amount of memories for me. In our house growing up we had a lot of Beatles things, like posters, trinkets, and obviously vinyl records. I remember my dad buying a yellow submarine lego set that had all of the Beatles members in it. Me and my brother were always taking it and playing with it, and somehow it has magically stayed together for all of these years. I think my Dad actually still has it sitting on a shelf in our house.
Another reason this album holds so many fond memories is because my Dad took me and my brother to go see the Yellow Submarine movie when we were young in theaters and it always stuck with me. I was amazed by the creativity of the film and the fact that it was animated in the 60s was mind blowing. I think it showed me the limits that creativity can go to and contributed to my love for art and design. It was so out of this world, from the blue meanies, to the nowhere man, to the giant talking hand, it was genius and I still love it just as much as I did when I was a kid. All of the song on this album have a childlike innocence to them and its fun to listen to them and be reminded of those years.
