Melodic Memories

Let It Be

The Beatles (1970)

$49.99

This Beatles album was one that I listened to a lot when I was younger. One that I listened to a lot when I was in my room by myself. The whole album is good, there isn’t one bad song on it, but of course there isn’t its a Beatles album. It was one that I listened to a lot during Covid later on and during that time I had just gotten my first electric guitar. George Harrisons guitar solo was the first song I learned on it and I spent most of my time for a few weeks practicing that song. I have played it so many times it has become engrained in my brain almost to the point that I am sick of it. Or at least I think so and then I listen to the song again and am reminded that I’m not. I don’t think its possible.

Then about a year later, Peter Jackson released his documentary “Get Back” about the Beatles with all of the never seen footage of the band preparing for their historic rooftop concert and we got to see them write these famous songs. A lot of the songs shown in the making on that documentary are on this album and its amazing to see them come into fruition. All of these songs are ones that I grew up listening to and to see Paul McCartney sit there waiting for John to show up and write the melody to “Get Back” is such a cool thing. Really this whole album reminds me of the time spent in Covid and lockdown. It seems like that would be a bad thing but its not really. It was one of the things that relaxed me during that time and for that reason I only have good memories relating to the songs on this album.
